Well, day 4 has ended, even though it's only 2 pm. The 2K clear needs to completely cure before I move on messing with the body, so we finish up other sub assemblies.... To start it off, here's the final interior. After taking this I painted the outside oif the tub black since the white kind of showed through the bottom... but that's not worth another picture. Next, I drilled out the exhaust pipes. Of course the hole should be bigger and the width of the pipe a lot smaller, but it's just to give the idea of hollownesss. And then we hit another snag. The wheels.... Top part is the brake disc with the brake claw (is that what it's called?). Theoretically, and speaking from experience with other cars, this should face the visible side, if you look through the wheels (left bottom). That should end up looking something like the picture on the right. Unfortunately, Revell wants you to do the following: put the brake disc inside the backside of the wheel, and glue it in place facing away from the visible side. Which seems like a waste of detail, and is most likely an error on the part of Revell. But considering how much you will see of it, I'm not going to waste my time fixing it. Add some rubber tyres, and call em done. All exhaust parts and axels were glued into place to finish off the bottom side of this car. Nest up: dashboard. After painting the radio in light grey, I applied some decals, and even the one over the raised detail that's supposed to be the turn knobs settled down pretty decently. And despite the darkness of the area, the instrument displays also show up nicely behind the wheel. And last shot for the day: these are all the parts I have left. Now what I need to do is wait for the clear to completely cure, as there are some bits on the body that need some black paint. And that gives me time to consider the following issues I have left to deal with: - if I use masking tape to mask off the windows, I can't see where I'm supposed to cut it, not even when holding the part up to a light source; - tracing the outlines with a pen or marker doesn't work since the pen/marker won't stick to the plastic; - I *should* have some Parafilm M in my man cave but I'll be damned if I can find it. Perhaps the bookstore has some transparent tape I can use; - to cut the clear parts into 2 or not.... still haven't made up my mind (and lacking recommendations as well....); - the engine parts on the body that go under the hood should not *all* be orange I think. So I need to paint some of them, but I haven't yet decided which parts and which color. I have about 2 days to come up with a plan to solve these issues.... PS: I really like how that last picture doesn't show the slight orange peel on the roof. Guess I'll have to try and polish that out too. Or leave it.
